PHANYC members are encouraged to participate in its Committees, and are eligible for its Board of Directors, among other benefits. We welcome members' involvement on such key committees, including:
- Public Policy and Legislation
Investigates public health policy issues and proposes policies, strategies and actions for consideration and adoption by PHANYC and/or by the American Public Health Association; - Program
Responsible for forums, seminars, and events as well as our annual meeting. It coordinates with the Agenda for A Healthy New York project; - Membership
Coordinates drives for membership (individual and organizational), develops and manages recruitment and renewal policies; - Communication
Provides direction for website and electronic communication and publications development; - Development
Develops and implements fundraising agenda and strategy; - Awards
Chooses outstanding public health individuals and organizations for recognition by PHANYC each year; - Nominations
Prepares the slate for election to the Board of Directors each year; - Student
Focuses on increasing student membership and involvement in PHANYC activities.
The Board of Directors oversees PHANYC's work to assure that its agenda is carried out. The Board also advises the membership on new trends, emerging problems, proposed solutions, and the political climate within the health care system. The Board is reflective of the breadth of professions, interest, and ethnicity of our membership. Any PHANYC member may run for election to the Board.
